Record the last 2 minutes of a Chrome tab, after the bug happens

Updated Sep 23, 2026

Turn on Rewind in Roll and it keeps the last 2 minutes of your tab (5 on Pro) in memory, with video, console and network. Nothing is saved until you press Save, so when a bug shows up you save what already happened instead of trying to reproduce it.

The problem it solves

The worst bugs show up when you aren't recording. You click, something flickers, a request fails, and by the time you open DevTools or start a screen recorder it's gone. Now you're trying to reproduce something that happens one time in ten.

A rolling buffer flips that around. It's always holding the recent past, so you decide to keep it after you see the bug.

How to use Rewind

  1. Install Roll from the Chrome Web Store and pin it.
  2. Open the Roll popup and turn on Rewind. Go back to work.
  3. When something breaks, press Save on the Roll bar or in the popup.
  4. The last 2 minutes become a normal recording: video, console, every fetch and XHR request with bodies, and your clicks. The buffer keeps running for the next one.

What you get

The same as a regular recording. Share a link, download the bundle (the network log is inside as a HAR file), or open it in Cursor or Claude Code through the local MCP server and ask what went wrong. The agent reads a timeline.md with the click, the failed request and the error in order. See what that looks like in the demo.

Without an extension

You can get part of the way with DevTools: keep it docked open, turn on Preserve log in both the Network and Console panels, and when a bug happens, export the HAR and save the console. You won't have video, and it only works if DevTools was open before the bug. Fine for your own debugging, impractical for QA or teammates.

Where this fits

Rewind matters most for the bugs an AI agent can't reproduce on its own. Live tools like Chrome DevTools MCP only see what happens while they're connected; a saved buffer is the evidence of what already did. More on that tradeoff.

Questions

Is Rewind recording me all the time?

Only while you have it turned on, and only in memory. The buffer holds the last 2 minutes and continually drops older footage. Nothing is written to disk or uploaded until you press Save.

Does Rewind capture console and network too?

Yes. Saving turns the buffered window into a normal recording with video, console, network requests and clicks on one timeline.

Can I make the buffer longer?

Pro keeps the last 5 minutes instead of 2. Pro is $29 once.

Can Chrome do this without an extension?

Not for video. DevTools can keep network and console history with Preserve log, but only if DevTools was already open before the bug. There's no built-in replay of what the tab showed.
